I have been living in London for just over 2 and a half years and I have moved 4 times…yes 4 times! I moved from Kent in my dad’s little Metro with all my worldly possessions all packed neatly – over the years I accumulate lots of clothes, bags, shoes, jewellery which all seem to have somehow multiplied….so every time I move out I try to have a wardrobe spring clean! I am sure most of you are nodding your head as you read this.
I'm sure a lot of you can agree that you always find items of clothing that still have the tags on, items that you say you will wear again and items that you will fit into one day! I also have another pile which I say I will refashion - which is growing all the time.....!
My most recent move has been to Battersea with 2 beautiful girls who both have a creative flare and our personalities just work. When we get together the idea's just keep flowing and I think they are amazing... - anyway enough about them! So - moving forward I think re-fashioning is a very easy and simple idea that everyone can do but it can be daunting and think it is just imposible - people just don't really know where to start. This is where I come in to give people ideas and inspiration to carry out their own Re-Fashioning - simple things like - changing the buttons on a shirt or skirt, adding trimmings to the hem or neck line, shortening the hem, tye-dye (very hippy I know) , adding a corsage or big bow made from ribbons..the list is endless!
If you have an item of clothing that you just don't wear anymore - think about what you would do to it to wear it again and maybe start reading blogs about other people who have re-fashioned their items or simply type it into google (my favourite solution)!
In the picture you can see how simply I have added a ribbon to my bag to give it a more "vintage look"...
So next time you have a "moving day" or a "spring clean" think how/if you can re-fashion your items if not maybe ask a friend what they think - 2 heads are better than 1!
Happy Re-fashioning! Would be great to see what ideas you came up with and that can inspire others...give it ago!!
